The Teddy Bear Name
In 1902 Teddy Roosevelt visited Mississippi. Friends had captured a bear cub for him and tied it to a tree. When Roosevelt saw the bear he asked that the bear be set free. Newspapers reported the event. A toy store in NYC sent him a letter asking if they could name their stuffed bears after him, he agreed and thus began the Teddy Bears. Teddy Bears now come in all shapes and sizes, all are stuffed with love!

Hello, my name is Peggy Deyle. My husband and I live in Illion, NY and spend our free time at our second home at Raquette Lake, in the heart of the Adirondacks Mountains. It is a pristine destination of natural wonders containing lakes, rivers, streams, ponds and the majestic Adirondack Mountains and even real live bears. In winter, you will find us snowmobiling, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing and in the summer we are out on the lake canoeing. The wildness and the peaceful atmosphere is a wonderful place to design and craft my bears.

We share our lives with two sons, two dogs, and lots of good friends.

Before getting into the "bear" business I was busy working at home and doing projects at the lake. Of course once I got started making the bears, I just couldn't stop. I am able to travel around the country and have the opportunity to meet other bear artists and collectors. I really enjoy it.To order any of the items offered for sale on this website, please contact Peggy at padeyle@msn.com with the bear's name, your contact information and any questions you may have.
